During the Fourth of July weekend, the city of Savannah hosted some major boat races. The first two days on the Savannah River (some boats attempting world speed records) and the last two days off the coast of Tybee Island. The Chatham County Sheriff Reserve's boat was the main transport boat for any injuries on the course. The K9 Task Force assisted with medical care to any injured racers.

On the night of the Fourth of July, both the Chatham County Sheriff Reserve and K9 Task Force were responsible for the security and transport of legendary Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. Nick sang the National Anthem just before the fireworks show on the Savannah River.
